Bad News
As some of you are aware, I recieved some bad news this week...the Cookie Monster has been banished from Sesame Street to be replaced by his healthier counterpart, the Veggie Monster (not gonna lie, I almost cried when Joey broke the news). If you like me look back fondly to your days with your little blue buddy singing "C is for cookie..." I think you need to sign this petition (yea yea yea I know online petitions never do anything, but at least you can say you attempted to save him).

whoa...dan's updating?!?
yes thats right, for like the third time in as many months, im actually updating my live journal...why you might ask? well i had a pretty cool night and i felt like writing about it thats why, now quit asking so many questions! lol
sooo as you may or may not know, our senior class is going to the dominican next month and they asked me to be on the team that presents the gospel message/gives testimonies/etc in the schools we'll be going to which is really really exciting b/c of how many ppl we'll get to minister to, but nerve wracking at the same time because, well, yeah, its public speaking in a foreign country. so as practice for the DR, the worship team, the drama team, and two members of the testimony team are doing a chapel for the elementary school (guess who drew one of the shorts sticks...yep, me). right now's probibly a good time to admit something: i'm not as nervous at public speaking as i was this time last year, but talking to a few hundred elementary school students, many displaying various degrees of ADHD, scares the life out of me :-\. so ive been pushing off getting ready for this until about 8 tonite, and when i started, i hit a crazy mental block. i prayed about it and i remembered that in bible class today, we watched a video and the speaker mentioned the story of bartimaeus, which i love. so i was going to do that, but instead i decided to stress myself out and keep looking for something better, but i kept on coming up empty. so around midnight, i had nothing but a frazzled mind and an empty word document where my outline should be...and my mom (i love my mom) came in and reminded me how beautifully simple the gospel is and that i need to just go back to basics and speak from my heart. so she prayed with me then went to bed and i still couldnt come up with anything, and i looked over and saw my devotional bible and remembered i hadnt read this morning. soo i decided that i was going to read my devo and talk 2morro on whatever God ordained for me to read today...and in the NT right now, the plan has me in Luke and i read the end of the story about the rich young ruler and i go on and guess what story comes up next...BARTIMAEUS!! SOOOOO COOOOOLL!! I WAS SOOO EXCITED!! not only was it the original scripture i wanted to go with, God gave me a clear outline in my head and it came together and i know that despite the shortcoming of the mouthpice, His word WILL go out tomorrow (well today actually) and that He will speak to someone. so yeah, i thought that was really cool and i hope it blessed someone out there the way it blessed me.
well im wired on coffee, so in other dan news..ummm...ohh i know i told a few of you, but i'm going to england now, which is another cool God thing. Joey asked me about 3 weeks ago if i wanted to come, but between prom and the dominican and college in the fall, $$ would be a little tight, so i kind of pushed it aside, even though i really felt like its where God wanted me. so, fast forward 2 weeks (*cool FF noise*) im at lunch with my dad on friday and he says that Joey needed another female leader for the England trip and wanted to ask my mom, and i was like "ohh...cool" but a lil jealous...then he tells me that joey still wants me to go and im lyk "WHOA...i thought he would have filled that spot weeks ago." and so we talked about it, and ive always had a peace that He would provide the money and so my dad, without even flinching says "cool...so whats holding you back. you want to go, go. we'll talk dollars and cents later." so that was totaly sweet and yeh im not even making sense bc my insomnia is starting to back fire.
oh final piece of news surrounding the hay clan...well its been unofficial for about a month now, so only like 2 ppl knew about it, but now i can tell who ever the heck i want...after service tonite, pastor lloyd ordained my dad, joel and andy (yes, that andy) as pastors, which excited me beyond words. i mean i still remember what his B.C. days were like and to see how God has changed him from a slave to the substances he thought gave him freedom to a true man of God possessing the liberties of Christ, who teaches me every day what it means to be a man and has dedicated his life to helping free others from drugs and alcohol is just, well its ineffably amazing.
k well i gotta be up in about 4 hours, so use your imagination as to what my next move will be. :-D

ppl said i needed to update...
...so im updating! yeah first time in a year and a half...soo ummm i forget what to put here...i think ur supposed to put something about ur day, so i guess ill do that
so sweet day- i got a wake up call from maria sharapova (my future wife! lol)...yes its tru, nike has this sweet thing where u give them ur fone number and a time and they call ur fone with a recorded message from a pro athlete, so yeah that was a nice way to wake up (well better than what im used to- my mom beating me with a pillow telkling me im late for school)
then i got moving a little, ran over to the church bc i left my sneakers there last night :-o, then went for a haircut, then came home...then i was gunna hang out with katie as our "i hope u dont get blown up in israel" party, but my parents got gay and were like "umm no we dont want u goin out tonite"...apparently im grounded, but i dont know why im grounded, when i was grounded, or what im grounded for! lol
but instead i had didier, andy pass, and ryan over and we watched the dunk contest (along with some random dane cook videos lol)...well 3 pizzas, a thing of cheesy bread, 3 bags of chips & cookies, and a heck of a lot of laughs later, my fav player nate robinson won (for the record ive said all along he'd win)
so i havent exactly been in school much lol...i dont think ive had a full 5 day week of school since december (between days off, sickness, and lazy mornings), and now i only have 3 days of school next week (pres day monday, college visit friday)...speaking of college btw, keep me in prayers bc im a semi finalist for a HUGE ($40,000) scholarship and if i nail a presentation on saturday, ill go to college TUTITON FREE (which is huge considerin its a $30,000 a year school)...but yeah i, not afraid of public speaking anymore, its just that im rele not prepared bc i keep procrastinating (like now, why am i not working on it, i dont know...should i be, yes lol) and im going up against 25 rele RELE smart ppl and only 4 of us will win, so yeah, theres my deal...ohhh but whats sweet,the college is taking us to see phantom of the opera on broadway FOR FREE the night b4!! :-D (oh i think i told all of you this, but for those of u who dont know, im going to kings in manhattan next year)...oh and speaking of kings, i got a sweet book yday that one of the professors there wrote, its called "yes or no: straight answers to christianity's toughest questions" or something like that, and it deals with all of christianity's toughest questions such as proof for the bible/god/jesus and why does god allow evil in the world and all of those tough questions we all get stumped by, but its all written in the form of a dialog between two friends...its a rele quick and easy read, but you rele learn a lot from it...so theres my sales pitch, go buy it! lol
okay so that wasnt as hard as i thought...maybe ill actually start updating now..

[Link] | Hey guyz if you don't remember from my last post, the Home News has hired me to write for their teen section. I've put that article on sellout bands on the back burner for now because I'm working on two cover pieces and that article would only be a second or third page commentary. Anyways, I met with my editor today and I got assigned a huge piece- its on how easy it is for teens to get cigarettes. It sounds easy enough becuase sadly we all know enough teen smokers to write an article, but the paper has a policy that, in the exception of cases of things like rape and the sort, they will not print a quote from someone as anonymous, under a fake name, or abbreviation. I'm looking for kids who would talk to me and would be willing to have their name, age, town, and or school published in the paper. If you go to a public school (or even a private school) and you'd be willing to ask people if they'd talk to me, PLEASEEEEEE call my house @ 732.234.3784 or e-mail me @ GoDsSoN911@optonline.net. [Link] | Wow I haven't written in here in a while. Well alot of stuffs been goin on but I don't have time to update anymore. Just wanted to take a second to ask for some help.
As some of you know (and if I didn't tell you yet, suprise. LoL) a few newspapers are letting me write for them on a freelance basis. The Home News Tribune has a commentary section on Thursdays by teens on music, and they said if I could out write the other ppl, they'd publish it. The article I'm starting (as of 15 minutes ago) is on crossover bands (going from Christian music to main stream) being labled as sellouts. Some bands that come to mind are Switchfoot, U2, Linkin Park, Evanesence, etc. (If you're a fan of any of these bands, I'm not saying that they are or aren't sellouts, they're just the most commonly mentioned LoL). I've gotten alot of it written and its not due for like a week, so I was wondering what ppl thought of this subject. Another opportunity I have is that the Home News and the Suburban newspapers want me to write on "things affecting teenagers." But me, being the disconnected, apathetic kid (LoL) I am, have no clue what to write on. So if you think of anything for that section, tell me about that too.
Keep this whole thing in your prayers. If I can get 3-5 good pieces published, I'll be able to get into just about any college and there are literaly hundreds of scholarships I'd be competitive for. The hard part though is most newspapers won't publish something by a teenager regardless of how good it is. I sent in one article and one editor said word for word "It's one of the best freelance articles I've ever seen, but we like to leave these kind of articles to people with at least a few years college experience." Does that make sence?? If its better than the college juniors article, what difference does it make that I'm a high school junior?? LoL. Ah well enough ranting. Any help you guys can give would be great. Thx

10 Hours 20 Minutes
leavin....on a jet plane...i dont kno when ill be back again (well actualy- july 12th lol). yesterday i said some of my goodbyes. 2 evry1 else who didnt get 1...GOOD BYE!!!. blew off work 2 go see spiderman 2 wit reg alan paul lexie kimmie nd 2 otha ppl. great movie!! go see it. then went to the apple store b/c my ipod was bein stupid nd they just gave me a brand new 1 :-D. then dropped alan off, piked up joey nd headed 2 gabys house. we had 2 break it 2 her over tha fone that we couldnt stay 4 her soccer games bc we were 2 scared 2 do it face to face lol. got there...convinced her we wernt joking about not stayin 4 tha game. chilled on tha neighbors lawn. went inside (OMG her dad looks straight out of tha sopranos lol). lots of stuff happened- wont bore u with tha details. as we were leavin she was cryin over us lol. newayz...church was good. lloyd prayed over us b4 tha message. amir spoke- AMAZING! then our last hungary meeting- kinda boring but we got some GREAT food. went home...put off sleepin nd pakin. now i hav all this stuff 2 do 2day nd very lil time. just wanted 2 thank evry1 else for your prayers. just wanted to encourage u guyz with somtin jason spoke about at 1 meeting. Jesus said to be his witnesses "in Judea, Samaria, nd the ends of the world." your missions field doesnt hav 2 be on the other side of the world. it could be ur block. ur park. ur public school. newhere God puts u with unsaved people. tha darker tha ppl around u, tha brighter ur light will shine. [Link] | wow havent written in a while. works been AWESOME! im pretty much tha tape ministry intern this summer which is so kool. thursday patrick asked me 2 do this thing w/ his old company at a 100 acre, 20 room mamsion owned by tha guy who owns forbes. pretty much 1 was a $200 a day gopher 4 a corprate olympics lol. newayz as hungary gets closer tha attacks get stronger. tha last 2 dayz ive been so pissed at everything- girls, friends, parents, work, school (nd its summer- that shows how frustrated i was gettin lol). i had like 10 diff things i was madd ova. then i preety much snapped TWICE at som1 i neva thought i could have been angry at. i rele cant believe i did that 2 her. but newayz tho, between yellin all my frustrations at reggie, and talkin 2 gaby nd tina i started 2 calm down a lil bit. (i lov u guyz...well tina nd gaby i do, reg ur my dog u kno how tha man love goes around here haha). then this mornin i woke up w/ a voicemail form som1 i havent talked 2 in a long time. i was mad b/c he had called like 10 minutes b4 i woke up. but lik 1/2 hr later he called bak nd we had a good talk that rele helped me get ova this. wow imgettin so attacked...i rele just need strength. so yea sorry 2 evry1 i gave attitude 2 nd thx 2 u guyz who were there 4 me.

1st 3 dayz of freedom
wow 3 dayz into summer nd i havent stopped yet. thursday: went to tha movies w/ reggie kimmie nd dani. saw harry potter- wasnt as bad as i thought it would b. then went home to get some $$ then went to ruby tuesdays (nd its already payin off!! haha lol). then went home nd watched tha pistons SPANK tha lakers by 20!! friday: went to kimmies house w/ reg foley dani nd lexie. lots of fun...mixed wit a lil drama (as always in high skool). tha return of tha hungarian shower! lol. there all day then went to impact. tim gave a GREAT message. omg durin basketball i saw somtin ill neva 4get. PETE BLOCKED TAD ON A DUNK!! now 4 those of u who r lik "huh?" put it this way- pete is about 5'8" nd tad is 6'6" nd dunks tha ball ova ne1 he wants 2. i almost died when i saw that. saturday: cut pastor patrick's lawn..ughh. then went to see garfield (kinda good...kinda gay lol). then went to lexies party. wow-no offense to any freshman girls- but HOW OLD R U PPL?? lik melissa, shante, nd lexie were tha only ppl who wernt actin lik 4 year olds b/c me joe nd reg wernt all ova them. omg neway..still pretty cool. chillen on tha trampoline, playin ball, pool, dunkin donuts. then me reg nd foley stayed at reg's place- THA NPA lol long story lol. we wer up til like 3 playin halo, pool, talkin about stuff, on tha fone...keeps goin. then woke up, went 2 dunkin donuts. came 2 church late. now im avoidin doin some work nd were goin 2 c tha vin diesil movie later prob.

[Link] | WOW God is freakin AWESOME. As most of u know my dad started on staff at church tuesday. And u prob kno im gettin ready 2 go bak 2 hungary. So i was startin 2 worry about money. i knew it wasnt goin 2 be an immeadiate problem but i still felt lik i needed 2 do somtin so im not just spendin all my parents money. Then on tuesday pastor patrick told my dad that there was a job opening at tha church nd he wanted 2 kno if i was interested. so i met with him nd he told me that workin there my hungary trip would be paid 4, along wit tha youth retreat, which i wasnt even thinkin of, and i would still make a lil money on tha side. thats awesome...but it gets even better. after the meetin after service pastor luis said he had 2 talk 2 me. he told me that b/c my dad was on staff 1/2 tha trip was covered...nd someone from tha church wanted 2 pay 4 tha rest of my trip...so i hav a FREE TRIP without even workin at church. wow God answers prayer way above wat i could ever expect.

[Link] | well haven't updated in a while. im pretty sore rite now from workin out for tha 1st time since last week. me nd reggie wer dedicated 2day to work til our arms fell off. we had like 1 kid our age starin at us b/c we started lik 50lb. above where he finished lol. we had some "motivation" he didnt have tho LOL inside joke . neways it waz a pretty good day. my dad started workin at church 2day nd even kooler patrick told my dad to tell me 2 talk 2 him about workin at tha church this summa! that would be rele kool so keep that in prayer.

Leaves...Leaves...More Leaves
Wow i havent updates in a while. Well 2day afta school i went home with monica to do our biology leaf project (SSOOO pointless...yet fun lol). Our project was to find 12-15 leaves of different trees, their seeds or fruits, drawing of the leaf, bark rubbing, nd a bunch of other POINTLESS crap. Well we wer walkin around her development for lik 3 hours. omg it was so funny we wer both in such wierd moods.

[Link] | well- another friday nite another party. a had a confirmation party for my friend heather- ive gon 2 skoll wit her since 3rd grade so i couldnt say no (plus it was a hott party- cant say no 2 that lol). i feel so bad- tha last 5 fridays ive only been to impact once- good friday, nyc, monis party, nd now this party. Neway i went over 2 church 2 meet up wit reggie so we could head over- i felt so out of place in impact wearin a dress shirt nd tie lol. as i was waitin 4 his drama practice to end i just chillen nd talked 2 joey. he asked me 2 go on tha missions trip 2 hungary this summer b/c he wanted 2 get som ppl b4 he made it open 2 tha y.g. so ima hav 2 pray about it but ima probibly go.neway we got out of there at lik 7:25 nd we had 2 be in somerset at 7:30 so needless 2 say we made an entrabce. gaby called lik 5 minutes b4 we got there nd we tried 2 scare her into thinkin we wernt comin but i waz 2 lazy. so tha party waz pretty hott dont feel lik govon details tho. went bak 2 sleep at reggies afterwards. i remember bein in his house for lik 15 minutes. we got there i put my ipod in nd fell asleep listenin. i woke up at 8 nd we left at lik 8:10 b/c he had drama practice nd i needed 2 get home (i realized wen i got there i 4got my sneakers so id either hav 2 go home or wear dress shoes wit my shorts). so went home nd got ready 2 go 2 tha purity seminar. it was rele good- i mean ive heard relatively tha same thing 3 times in tha ast 6 months but its still rele encouraging to go to things like that. One guy they had for the guyz had a rele powerful testimony about his imorality which lead to AIDS, yet the lord has been usin the AIDS for his purpose. then it was funny-durin lunch me nd joey foley wer standin next 2 each other on line nd this lady asks "are you 2 twins?" lol not even tha same nationality (i dont think at least). well neway then patrick spoke which is always rele kool. so now im just sittin here. my parents r doin pre-marital counselin for rachel galya nd her fiance joe so im just sittin around watchin hockey.

hardest workin men in show biz
today waz a rreellleee long day. reg slept ova last nite. woke up got bagels nd went to work at skool. we wer workin set-up for a concert that they wer havin tonite wit super chik nd kronicle. we got there nd we wer doin lightin. then audio got there lik 1/2 later. then we had 2 set up tha stage nd these stupid tents. wow- it toook lyk 8 pp to figure ou how 2 put up this canopy. me nd jess wer under lik a 6 inch gap between tha top piece nd tha ground puttin these bunjee cords on (it looked wierd- a guy nd a girl goin under a tent for lyk 5 minutes lol). neway then we got a barbeque mexican style. tha bbq was on tha oother side of tha campus so we drove over there in an explorer, tied mr burdo hangin out tha tailgate, and dragged the bbq behind tha car. omg it was ssoooo funny. neway then we had alot of other odds nd ends to take care of lyk runnin sound chek nd settin uop tha food. we worked close 2 nonstop from 10-7. it was so kool tho- we got free front row tix, all tha free food we wanted (includin all this catered gourmet food bakstage for tha bands nd wat they wer sellin outside), bak stage passes, nd chyllen wit tha artists. tha first band- kronicle- was hysterical they wer such goof offs. before they went out on stage i told tha lead singer danny to take a stage dive for me- nd he actualy did. b4 he did he pinted nd i thought he was pointin where he was gonna jump but he told me after he wanted me 2 jump wit him lol. neway tha music was iight. it felt lik it was 20 minutes. then we worked a lil break down nd drove home. one of the people with the company that was workin set up wants us 2 work for them too. wer probibly gonna wind up workin autum blaze nd mayb creation fest too. so now im gettin ready 4 bed watchin saturday nite live thinkin of a way 2 get out of tha family day thing 2morro. idk- if i fond out at service ppl r actualy goin ill go but it looks lyk no1s goin so...GGOOOOOO!!!

NYC Relief
Today i had to be at school before im usually awake- 6:30!! Once again ill tell u guys- im NOT a morning person. I was rele out of it goin up but eventualy i was bak to my (almost) normal self. First we (me moni katie joe koshy nd shanita) had to drive to elizabeth (bushwik babi lol). Then we had to make soup nd drinks nd stuff. Then we piked up bread nd drove to tha north bronx (dont worry swoo- no gunshot wounds lol). OMG- our leader dave was so hysterical drivin. He had these two huge speakers blarin music tha whole time nd hed be liftin his hands, drummin on tha wheel, shoutin out praise WHILE HE WAS DRIVIN!! lol. So we got there nd set up nd ppl wer linin up at 10 in tha mornin for soup nd lemonade (okay- i think i 4got to tell ya so if u dont know what nyc relief is its a ministry that reaches out to tha homeless nd poverty striken ppl of new york city. www.nycr.org). When we first started me nd koshy were runnin tha prayer/ literature table. we had free tracts bibles nd other christian publications in english nd spanish for the people to take nd we would ask them wat they needed prayer for. One thing that rele blessed me was this one woman Marie who was a Christian who was back slidden nd just started getting back to church. I helped her get info on housing, a job, clothing, and food. I told her nd she said bak "ill be praying for you too." I mean- here i am wearin my $100 sneakers nd shes livin in tha bx projects without a job nd barely speaks english nd shes praying for ME! It was just such a blessin to hear that. Neways then i went inside nd helped serve the soup. OMG i never wanna see vegetable rice soup again lol. After the soup ran out i had a chance to talk to some mor ppl. I had lyk 3 girls wit a crush on me. Tha first too wer these cute chiks workin in tha church across from us Christian nd cute- there must be something else this is too easy lol. Well there was- theyre from virginia! oh well wasnt meant to be. tha third was a rele scarry hood rat who came up to the bus. But newayz it was an awesome outreach. AND I GOT TO MISS 2 TESTS!!!! (bio nd literature) lol. So the ride home was fun too. We got bak 2 elizabeth nd had 2 clean out all tha stuff we used. We all got so soaked but it was kool- i already had soup all over me. So the ride home i just tried 2 crash. I was so comfortable- i was half asleep on monicas shoulder. but then we went through som bak roads ive neva seen b4 wit lik 50 turns nd i kept gettin thrown off. It was so wierd b/c i shut my eyes in tha projects nd opened them nd there wer lyk mansions all around me lol. There was so much mor ill think of later but rite now i dont feel lik typin nd i just may actualy study for one of my 3 tests 2morrow.
